TOURNAMENT OF DESTRUCTION GENERAL CAR RULES

  1. JEFFERSON SPEEDWAY TOURNAMENT OF DESTRUCTION  RULE CHANGES THE RULES FOR THE TOURNAMENT OF DESTRUCTION HAS NOT CHANGED FOR ROUND ONE THE MEMORIAL WEEKEND, MAY 28th EVENT.IMPLEMENTATION OF THE RULES CHANGES DISCUSSED AT THE FALL MEETING WILL GO INTO EFFECT FOR THE JULY 3rd EVENT.EXAMPLES OF PROPER DRIVERS DOOR REINFORCEMENT AND WINDOW NET INSTALLATION WILL BE ON DISPLAY AT THE MEMORIAL WEEKEND EVENT.  IF YOU HAVE ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS CONTACT TERRY TUCKER AT 920-648-2705.
  2. Competition is open for four cylinder and less front wheel drive cars. Six cylinder cars can compete if the remove one spark plug wire. Maximum wheelbase is 105 inches. Rear wheel drive cars can compete but may be run separate spin to win and bubble race eliminators. Small trucks and mini-vans can compete in all but the roll-over contests. No convertibles and all t-tops must be welded in place or tinned over. Sun-roofs must be shut and secured.
  3. All glass except windshield must be removed. Severely cracked (spidered) windshield must be replaced by heavy mesh screen. All lights, reflectors, and exterior trim including grills, must be removed. Any broken glass must be vacuumed out of car including inside the doors. All head lights (hide-away’s also) must be removed. All outside mirrors must be removed.
  4. Car must have a sound floor in drivers area. Seat belts must be sound and operate properly.
  5. All debris must be removed from car and trunk area.
  6. Doors must be chained shut with sturdy chain or welded.
  7. All cars must have a number pained on both sides (minimum of 16 inches high).
  8. No obscenity or inappropriate words allowed on car.
  9. Gas tank should remain in stock location if ahead of rear axle. If tank is behind rear axle, it must be moved as far forward into trunk the trunk area as possible and properly secured.
  10. All cars must past a safety inspection.
  11. Additional race rules will be available at sign-up.
  12. You must be 18 to compete. Ages 16 to 18 can race with a notarized parental release form and parent in attendance.

  14. If you are leaving a car over night you must notify Terry Tucker and register who is going to pick it up. All cars must leave the Speedway before the following Thursday or they become Speedway property and will be disposed of.
  15. All hood latches must be removed. Hoods should be secured with bungee cords.
  16. Drivers door should be left intact. Additional interior padding recommended.
  17. Battery must be securely fastened at all times.
  18. Drivers must wear long sleeved shirts (Heavy Flannel or Denim) and long pants (Blue Jeans). No open toed shoes or short pants allowed in pits. All drivers must wear eye protection (full face helmets, goggles, or glasses).
  19. All cars are required to have a back brace bar running from drivers side door post to passenger side door post. It must prevent the seat back from falling backward and support the drivers door in a collision. Bar must be at least 1 ½ inches in diameter (max size 3 inches) and have a minimum of 4 inch by 6 inch 1/4 inch thick plate welded to each end. Bar must be installed by welding or by four 3/8 inch bolts in each plate fastened securely to each side door post.
  20. All cars competing in the roll-over contest must be a sedan (no hardtops or coups). All cars in roll-over must have drivers door to roof reinforcement bar made of no less than 1½ inch diameter pipe or square tubing.
