Jarlsberg Notches 50 Lapper at Jefferson Speedway

May 5, 2007; Jefferson WI — Kyle Jarlsberg of Cambridge claimed top honors in the “Teez T’s 50” Late Model feature. Starting outside row 6, Jarlsberg headed toward the front as John Ovadal claimed the early lead. Jarlsberg claimed the 4th spot on lap 16, behind Chris Quam. A spin, in turn 2, brought out the caution, on lap 19, closing the field for a restart. On the start the Kyle Taylor, and Ovadal tangled coming off of turn 2, with Ovadal spinning and both restarting at the rear of the field. Quam led the restart with Jarlsberg looking to the inside. Claiming the top spot on lap 20, Jarlsberg showed the way to the checkers. The race slowed for 2 more cautions, for spins on lap 43 and lap 48. At the finish it was Jarlsberg for the win followed by Dylan Schuyler, Steve Dobbratz, Quam and Chad Reimer.

Winning the “Best Appearing Car” competition for the Late Models was Noel Ramge of Helenville.

In Sportsman action James Helmer of Oconomowoc notched the win, in the 30 lap feature. Starting inside row 2 Helmer followed Brandon Sletten to the second spot, launching his bid for the lead. Sletten led first 6 laps with Helmer looking for an opening. Moving to the inside Helmer made the winning pass on lap 7. A spin, between turns 1 and 2 on lap 16 brought the only caution of the race. Helmer led the restart, as Dave Oswald and Scott “Chico” Riedner battled their way toward the front. Oswald claimed 2nd by lap 23, with Riedner close behind for 3rd. Over the last 5 laps it was Oswald looked for a way past Helmer, as Riedner looked for his way past them both. As they flew past the checkers it was Helmer, by inches, over Oswald, with Riedner only inches back in 3rd. Rounding out the top 5 were Terry Wangsness and Shaun Scheel.

Helmer also claimed the “Best Appearing Car” competition for the Sportsman.

In International action Kyle Riedner of Waunakee notched his first feature win, in the 25 lap main event. Starting inside row 5, Riedner headed toward the front, as Mark English drove to the early lead. Caution came, on lap 3, for a spin in turn 4. English led the restart with Riedner up to the 5th spot. Riedner claimed the 4th spot on lap 6, steadily working his way forward. Caution came again, on lap 10, for a spin. English led the start with Riedner running 3rd. Motoring under Mike Winters, on lap 14, Riedner claimed the 2nd spot, moving under English for the lead. A final caution, on lap 17, slowed the field. At the finish it was Kyle Riedner for the win followed by Brandon Riedner, Kyle Smith, Joe Cross and English.

Winning the “Best Appearing Car” competition for the Internationals was Chris Gottschalk of Jefferson.
In Hobby Stock action Jim Robinson of Orfordville claimed victory in the 25 lap main event. Starting outside row 3, Robinson headed toward the point as Bobby Selsing Jr. claimed the early lead. Selsing surrendered the point to Kyle Stark on lap 11, with Robinson running 3rd. Robinson Motored past Selsing, on the 12th circuit, closing with Stark. Stark appeared to lose speed, on lap 23, Robinson passed for the top spot with Mike Meyers following for 2nd. At the finish it was Robinson for the win followed by Meyers, Stark, Jim Tate Jr. and Selsing.

Winning the “Best Appearing Car” competition for the Hobby Stocks was Alan Dorn of Waterloo.

In Bandit action Gary Stark of Waunakee claimed top honors in the 20 lap feature. Starting inside row 7, Stark headed to the front as Tyler White grabbed the early lead. White lost the point to Kenny Christianson on lap 2. Christianson led for 4 laps before spinning from the lead, with a little help from behind, moving Stark from the 4th spot to the point. Christianson was able to get back underway avoiding the caution flag. At the finish it was Stark for the win followed by Kyle Watters, Stephen Scheel, Sean Watters and Robert Lange.

Winning the “Best Appearing Car” competition for the Bandits was Kenny Christianson of Oconomowoc.
Next week Jefferson Speedway hosts the “B&M Electric 50,” with a 50 lap Late Model feature and a full racing program, in all divisions.

Gates open at 3:00, Qualifying at 5:00 and Racing starts at 7:00PM sharp.
Jefferson Speedway is half way between Jefferson and Cambridge Wisconsin, on Highway 18.
