Jefferson Speedway Heats Up In 2011

JEFFERSON, WI (Friday, April 8, 2011) The 2011 season opening Spring Sizzler is inching closer by the day. As the temperatures rise, so does the anticipation of another season of fantastic racing at Wisconsin’s Action Track. Six divisions are once again on tap this year with the Late Models leading the way. The lineup of drivers planning to compete in 2011 includes several past champions as well as lots of other contenders looking to add their name to the list of men who have captured the title. Casey Johnson, the youngster from Stoughton, returns to defend his crown. Three time champion, Jason Erickson will attempt to enter rare territory by adding a fourth title to his resume. Other former champs including Doug Hahn, John Ovadal Jr. and Dan Chesmore will make those goals ever more difficult. Add in perennial contenders Steve Dobbratz, Dylan Schuyler and Chris Quam as well as many others and you can see the pressure will be on at the drop of the first green flag. The competition will be hot and heavy from top to bottom and promises to excite and impress fans each week.
Waunakee’s Scott “Chico” Riedner will look to capture his third straight Sportsman championship in 2011. Accomplishing that feat would also give him five titles in the past six years at Jefferson Speedway. Can he hold off top competitors such as Jason Dunn, Shaun Scheel and James Helmer as well as a host of others? The Sportsman division will boast a strong field of drivers each and every week.
Also looking to add to an already impressive resume will be Edgerton’s Mark English. English has managed to win four straight championships in the International class as well five in the past six years. A fifth consecutive title won’t be easy in a class that regularly expects 30+ entries every race night.
One of the most action packed divisions at Jefferson Speedway each week is the Hobby Stock class. The only repeat champion since 2004, Jim Tate Jr, returns to defend his 2010 crown. But with tight points battles and features decided by inches each week, it will require this season’s champ to earn every position possible from the first week until Season Championship Night.
The Road Warrior division, as class still in its infancy, looks to build and grow in 2011. As for the Bandit class, it appears to be a wide open race to the title. Fans of this class have come to expect the unexpected, and 2011 will be no different.
All the competitors hit the track each Saturday night beginning with the Spring Sizzler scheduled for April 30.
