Brave the Elements to Claim Overall Championships at Jefferson Speedway!

September 27-28, 2003; Jefferson,
Wis. - Fans and driver braved the cold, and numerous rain delays, to see
Jefferson Speedways year end Pepsi Wisconsin State Championships through
to the end. As a reward, they were treated to may laps of outstanding racing.

2003 Jefferson Speedway Track Champions
Chris Quam (International #4), Scott Nottestad (Late
Model #14), Trent Erdman (Sportsman #11) and Eaan Carson (Hobby Stock #2).
Scott Nottestad (#14) Sealed the champ- ionship with a victory in the first 65
lapper followed by a second, in the 2nd race. 
Mike Beyer (#75), won the Late Model "Preview
Feature" on Saturday Night.

Brent Nottesatad (#25) claimed the overall
championship for the International (4 Cyl) division with a win in the first 25 lappers and
3rd in the second.
Scott "Chico" Riedner (#26) won the first Sportsman feature but finished
out of the top 6 in the 2nd. Missing his chance at the overall championship.
Bret Schmidt (#20) finished 2nd, in both Sportsman
features, easily claiming the overall championship.

Tangled metal, in the 2nd Sportsman feature. A
spinning car sent Jody Purdy (#7), Jasper Gronert (#95) and others into the turn 3 wall.
Eaan Carson (#2) claimed the overall championship in
the Hobby Stock division, with a 4th and 6th place finish. 
Garrett Goth (#89) won the first Hobby Stock
feature..

Bobby Bishofberger (#20) won the first Bandit Last
Chance race.

Chris Nelson (#73) won the second Bandit feature, and
finished 2nd in the first race, to claim the overall championship.
Bill Sweeney (#42), won the first Bandit feature.

Scott Nottestad of Stoughton claimed the overall Championship title in the 23rd
annual Pepsi Wisconsin State Championships," at Jefferson Speedway. Turning in
a win, in the first 65 lapper, followed by a 2nd, in the second race, Nottestad easily
claimed top honors for the Late Model division. Nick Wendt of Watertown edged out
Nottestad for the win, in the second 65 lapper.
Brent Nottestad of Cambridge claimed the Overall Championship, in the International
(4-Cylinder) division, turning in a first and third place finish. Aaron Rude claimed
victory in the second feature, but his 4th place finish in the first, left him short of
the title.
In the Sportsman division Bret Schmidt was crowned with the Overall title, turning in 2
second place finishes. Scott Chico Riedner claimed the win, in feature number
1, but finished out of the running in the 2nd race. Trent Erdman, the 2003 track champion,
won the 2nd feature, but had not fared well in the first race.
In Hobby Stock action the twin feature competition ended in a tie, between Eaan Carson
of Fort Atkinson and Pete Elgas of Janesville. Qualifying times were used as the tie
breaker, and Carson was declared the overall Champion, having qualified faster than Elgas.
Victory in the first feature went to rookie driver Garrett Goth, while the second victory
went to Chuck Egli.
In Bandit action Chris Nelson of Cottage grove turned in a 2nd and a 1st place finish,
claiming the divisions overall title. Victory, in the first race, was claimed by
2003 track champion Bill Sweeney.
This concludes racing action, for the 2003 season, at Jefferson Speedway. The
