Season Half Opened at Jefferson Speedway - Mother
Nature Postponed Day 2!

The Spring Sizzler Shoot-Out," 2-day season opener started on Friday evening,
with the finale scheduled Saturday evening. Friday evening went well, but it started
raining during practice on Saturday, washing out the second half of the program.

Late in the event, Dan Chesmore (27) dove to the

race leader Kyle Jarlsberg on his way to winning the late model feature race
Friday at Jefferson Speedway. 
Pete Elgas (#52) stops in Victory Lane, following his win, in the Hobby Stock
preview Feature. 
Pete Elgas (#52) pulls ahead of Bret Carson (#94) for
the lead in the Hobby Stock preview feature. Jim Williams (#J10)
is close behind in 3rd. 
Tim Seitz (#57) closing in on B.J. Sparkman (#70), in
the International preview feature. Seitz went on to win the race, with Sparkman 2nd. 
Dave Oswald (#31) moving around the outside of Bret
Schmidt (#20), with Trent Erdman (#11) close behind, in the Sportsman preview feature.
Oswald and Erdman finished 1 and 2, with Schmidt 3rd.

Sween won the race, with Shelly finishing 3rd.
Brandon Kozak (#02) ahead of Peter Shelley (#5) and
Bill Sweeney (#42) in the Bandit preview feature. Sweeney moved
to the front, winning the race, with Shelley 3rd and Kozak 4th.
Dave Oswald (#31) takes his turn in Victory lane, following his win, in the
Sportsman preview feature.

In Friday night action Dan Chesmore of Janesville claimed top honors in the 35
lap Late Model preview feature. Chesmore came from the rear of the field, overtaking the
early leader, Kyle Jarlsberg, on lap 32. From there to the checkered flag it was Chesmore
for the win, followed by John Ovadal Jr., Scott Nottestad and Jarlsberg.
In International preview feature action it was Tim Seitz claimed the point from B.J.
Sparkman on lap 11, guiding the way from there to the finish. At the stripe it was Seitz
for the win, followed by Sparkman, Steve Allman and Scotty Hoeft.
Sportsman preview feature action saw Dave Oswald of Cottage Grove, claim the top spot
on lap 5, guiding the way to the checkered flag. At the stripe it was Oswald for the win,
followed by Trent Erdman, Bret Schmidt and Judy Weir.
In Hobby Stock preview feature action Pete Elgas of Janesville motored past Denis
Schmidt, on lap 4, guiding the way from there to the checkered flag. At the finish it was
Elgas, followed by Bret Carson, Terry Wangsness and Jim Williams.
The Bandit preview feature started with a lap 1 rollover, by rookie driver Tyler White
of Fort Atkinson. White was unhurt but his night of racing ended. On the restart Bill
Sweeney of Janesville headed toward the front as Sean Watters claimed the early lead.
Watters surrendered the point to Brandon Kozak on lap 8, as Sweeney closed in on the
point. Claiming the lead, on lap 11, Sweeney guided the way to the checkered flag followed
by Troy Yohn, Peter Shelley and Kozak.
The second half of the program has been scheduled to run May 8.
Next week Jefferson Speedway Berres Brothers Coffee Roasters hosts Autograph and
Picture Day, along with a full racing program.
Gates open at 3:00PM, qualifying at 5:00PM and racing at 7:00 sharp. Jefferson Speedway
is half way between Cambridge and Jefferson on Highway 18.
