July 15, 2006; Jefferson WI - Noel Ramge of Helenville claimed top honors in the “Newville Auto Salvage” 50 lap Late model feature. Starting outside the front row, Ramge grabbed the early lead and never looked back, showing the way to the checkered flag. Behind Ramge the action was hot and heavy, as driver battled for position, but Ramge never faced a serious challenge. The field slowed for 2 caution flags, for a crash on lap 35 and a spin on lap 40. Ramge pulled ahead on each restart. At the stripe it was Ramge for the win, followed by Ken Olson, John Ovadal Jr., Doug Hahn and Roger Behlke.
In Sportsman action Dave Oswald of Cottage Grove came out on top of a monumental battle, to claim the 30 lap feature win. Starting outside row 3, Oswald headed toward the point, as James Helmer grabbed the early lead. Caution came on lap 16, for a spin in turn 2, giving the fans a chance to breathe. Helmer was still at the point, with Oswald 2nd and a whole pack of fast cars at the front, all wanting the top spot. On the restart Helmer held the point, with Oswald working the inside. Another spin, on lap 19, brought the final caution of the race. At the green, Oswald went back to work on the inside, as Mark Deporter, Chico Riedner, and Jay Kalbus all looked for a way past. Oswald worked under Helmer, lap after lap, finally Edging ahead as they came to the White flag. As they flew past the finish it was Oswald for the win, followed by Helmer, Riedner, Kalbus and Deporter. At this point the crowd began to breathe again! In International action Brandon Riedner of Waunakee claimed top honors in the 20 lap feature. Starting outside row 3, Riedner headed for the front as Keryn Hopwood drove to the early lead. Hopwood led the way for 5 laps, before surrendering the point to Riedner. Once at the point Riedner pulled ahead, as Hopwood battled with Scotty Hoeft to hang on to the 2nd spot. As they took the checkers it was Riedner for the win followed by Hopwood, Hoeft, Mark Joyner and Chris Chenoweth. In Hobby Stock action Bret Carson of Johnson Creek notched the win, in the 25 lap main event. Starting outside row 4, Carson started to the front, as Alan Dorn took the early lead. Dorn led the way for 14 laps, as Carson made his way to the front. An, apparent, blown engine and fluid on the track brought the only caution of the race, on lap 10. Dorn led the restart, with Carson battling for the 2nd spot. Claiming 2nd on lap 11, Carson closed with Dorn. Moving to the inside on lap 14, Carson made the winning pass. At the stripe it was Carson for the win, followed by Dorn, Larry Moen, Kyle Stark and Dennis Schmidt. In Bandit action Rodney Mundt won the 20 lap feature. Starting inside row 5, Mundt caught Steve Priuett, the early leader, on lap 7. Mundt motored to the lead on lap 8, guiding the way from there to the checkers. At the finish it was Mundt for the win followed by Sean Watters, Casey Johnson, Steve Scheel and Kyle Watters. Next week Citizens Bank presents the 50 lap Late Model feature plus it’s “Bring a Buddy to the Races Night” at Jefferson Speedway.
